Hey party peeps! A few weeks ago I told you about how I was going to host a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Viewing Party for my tween daughter some of her BFFs. Well, the party was AWESOME and turned into a bigger party than I thought when my nephews and other younger kids wanted IN on all this fun! You may may remember that the theme of the party was inspired by a recent trip to Walmart where I saw a big display of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters promoting them as this year’s official drink sponsor of the awards show. Feeling a bit nostalgic for California where the awards show was being taped and inspired by the waves on the Capri Sun packaging, a theme was born!
ROARIN’ WATERS BEACH THEME & CANDY STATION!
I thought it would be fun to combine both the “Roarin’ Waters” and warm & sunny atmosphere of California (where the awards show was live) to create a beach themed viewing party complete with fun photo props, a green balloon fight, a t-shirt design station and an interactive “Guess The Winners” game! I pulled out my beach themed decor to decorate the party, mixed in some orange, blue and green paper goods from Walmart and finished it off with lots of fun activities. I always create a wow factor for my parties so for this one, I decided to create a Roaring’ Waters Beach Candy Station full of matching colored candy and pouches of Capri Sun Roaring’ Waters that the kids could snack on during the show. The kids loved seeing the Spongebob Squarepants candy on the table as they had just seen that movie a few weeks ago.
GIRLFRIEND TIP Looking for color inspiration? I am a fan of color themed parties and this was no different. I pulled the party colors from the iconic orange blimp award that is given out to all the winners at the award show and combined that with the bright blue of the Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters package label and bright lime green which of course is a signature color for Nickelodeon.
GUESS THE WINNER GAME!
The Guess the Winner game was a HUGE hit! I found a complete list of all the award categories and nominees and printed them out before the party started. While the kids waited for the show to start, I had them all secretly guess who they thought would win each category by checking off their choices. Then each kid was assigned their own color gum ball that they would use for the game. As the show went on, the kids were SUPER ENGAGED with every winner announcement and LOUD cheers, high-fives rang out as each person guessed right. When they guess right they went up to the candy station and put their color gum ball into an empty container. The person with the most gum balls in the jar wins a prize! Of course, I gave all the kids prizes but they didn’t know that and the competition was FIERCE! They were all super excited to receive a goody bag with their initials on them full of glow and the dark favors!
I also put out fun party props that the kids had a blast dressing up in and blew up one package of green balloons and placed them all over the floor. It didn’t take long for a HUGE balloon fight to break out! They were all running around so fast I couldn’t get any photos of them! They worked up quite a sweat! Good thing I had plenty of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters on hand…they were gone in a flash! Winding down the night, each kid designed their own t-shirt with fabric markers that they all took home with them.
CAPRI SUN SMOOTHIES!
Smoothies are always a hit with kids and especially tweens since they can easily make them themselves. For kids parties how cool to setup a Smoothie Bar where the kids make their own. Here’s how:
Step 1: Assemble all of your ingredients
– frozen fruit of your choice
– Capri Sun Roaring’ Waters
– frozen sorbet
Step 2: Display them in containers on your Smoothie Bar
Don’t forget to provide sturdy scoops so the kids can easily scoop up the frozen fruit
Step 3: Place a blender on your Smoothie Bar with cups
Place 1/2 cup of your choice of fruit, 1/2 cup of yogurt and one pouch of Capri Sun Roarin’ Waters and blend until smooth.
What a fun night! I think we will have to make this an annual event! In a previous post I shared my Look for Less ideas for planning this party. If you missed it, you can CHECK IT OUT HERE.
