Hey party peeps!
Working with Mattel has been a dream come true! If you guys have followed me for a while you know that Ever After High is one of my daughter’s favorite toys, websites and shows! So I was over the moon when asked by Mattel to style and host this Ever After High Thronecoming Party to announce the winner of this year’s Thronecoming….RAVEN QUEEN! It was a race to the finish with millions of fans worldwide voting for weeks for Raven Queen, Blondie Lockes, C.A. Cupid or Apple White to be crowned Thronecoming Queen. AND to celebrate we are throwing a fabulous Raven Queen Thronecoming Giveaway full of awesome prizes. Be sure to scroll down to the end of this post to enter to win. Ever After High is a high school full of teenage kids of famous fairy tale characters. Raven Queen, my favorite Ever After High character (#TEAMRAVEN), is the daughter of Snow White’s Evil Queen. The school is broken up into Royals who embrace their destiny’s of having their parent’s ever after and the Rebels who do not want to simply follow in their parent’s footsteps and take on their legacy. Raven is a rebel and doesn’t want her mother’s ever after and instead wants to take her destiny into her own hands and create her very own ever after. Gotta love her! Click here to check out Ever After High. So, naturally I was so excited when Mattel told me that Raven Queen was the winner of this year’s Thronecoming and to throw a FABULOUS party to celebrate! Are you or your kids Ever After High fans? You must check out this sparkly and gothic Thronecoming party to celebrate the Rebel of them all….RAVEN QUEEN!
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
SET THE SCENE!
Creating the look and feel for this party was a no-brainer. I simply took all my design inspiration from the Raven Queen Thronecoming doll — sparkly purple, black and silver color palette with tulle and silver metal accents. I used the Raven Queen doll in the party’s decor and surprised each guest at the end of the party when they found out they each could take one home with them! TOTAL ROCK STAR MOMENT! Lots of squeals!
DRESS THE PART!
To create the ultimate experience for my daughter and her friends, I always have a Dress Up Bar complete with items that guests can dress up in to get into the spirit and theme of the party. For this, I had the awesome Kristal from Atutudes custom design this amazing Raven Queen inspired tutu dress topped with this custom embroidered fabric crown from Shawna Brockmeier Styled Events…PERFECTION! For each guest the amazing Great Stitch took my custom “Rebels Rule” and “Team Raven” design and embroidered these fabulous tshirts and Princess Mirrors custom designed these silver hand mirrors and matching hair bows for each guest to wear and take home.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Outside of birthday parties, I tend to keep the guest count low (no more than 4) for Riley’s parties throughout the year so I can splurge on higher-end party favors for her BFFs. AND…when throwing a party with dolls it’s great when there are just a few girls at the party so they can actually play with the dolls together without a huge amount of people.
Working with Mattel does have it’s perks and this life-size standup of Raven Queen is just that! Using artwork supplied by Mattel I had Party Standups custom create this one-of-a-kind Raven Queen decked out in her Thronecoming gown that the girls had a blast taking photos with! Needless to say it is now decor in my daughter’s room and she just loves it.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Each girl also got to take home a photo book full of the photos they took at the beginning of the party. To do this, take photos at the beginning of the party and send someone to a photo printing kiosk as soon as the photos are done while you continue to host your guests. The prints will arrive before the party is over so the girls can place them into their photo books.
DINE IN STYLE!
Creating a gothic and glamourous dining table worthy of a Thronecoming Queen was my inspiration for this table design. The girls went nuts when they saw they got to drink juice from these child-sized stemmed glasses and got to use real satin napkins…WHAT??!!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Keeping my guest count to only 4 also allowed me to splurge on these high-end chiavari chairs which were just perfect for this. To keep my budget in check I added a punch of metallic bling to the table with these nickel plated metal plates from the dollar store that I placed on top of purple chargers! When serving the kids their food, however, I did so on clear plastic plates and placed them on top of the chargers which makes for super fast and easy cleanup! Who doesn’t love that!
A SWEETS TABLE FIT FOR A QUEEN!
The wow factor for any party is always the Sweets Table! I called on my dream team of dessert designers to help me display yummy custom desserts that matched my theme and color palette perfectly! These purple glittered apples, cake pops and chocolate covered oreos by Autumn Lynn’s Chocolate Sins look amazing topped with sparkle sticks by Made By A Princess. The Raven Queen inspired custom cookies and black “poison” apples from Roni’s Sugar Creations played into the theme perfectly. Check out these Lollipics lollipops that are fully edible and display the full Ever After High Thronecoming Court.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: How FABULOUS is that chandelier cupcake stand! I mean really…total awesomeness! That was actually custom made for me a while ago for my Twilight Fairy party. The amazing Katie Driver created it from a lamp and a chandelier and I was so happy to be able to use it again! Tutorial coming soon on how to make this.
RAVEN’S CRAFT BAR!
To keep the kids busy I created an interactive Favor Bar where the girls actually made their take home favors. Setting this up was super easy as I was able to find all the craft activities and supplies at my local Michaels. The girls had fun designing and embellishing a masquerade mask and glittery foam crown, creating bottle cap keychains and slipping a bling crown onto a leather strap bracelet! I also gave each girl a sparkly purple journal so that they could write their own Ever After!
