It’s that time of the year! My favorite holiday of them all! We celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior and we get to decorate our houses and trees with the most gorgeous decorations and spend time with family and friends! Monday may seem like an odd day to have a Christmas Soireé…however, it is the PERFECT day for my Girl Scout troop of 16 little girls who descended on the festive, vibrant and whimsical party setup just for them!
It all started with the decor plan! I knew I wanted to do a vibrant color palette of non-traditional Christmas colors–turquoise, hot pink, lime green, purple and black–to bring a whimsical, magical look to the event space. Luckily, some of my favorite local stores (Michaels, Pier One and Target) had this color palette readily available! SCORE! And of course, everything had to sparkle!
The centerpieces were 3-armed white candelabras that I put glittery Christmas ornaments on instead of traditional candles and dressed them up with sparkly snowflakes. The candelabras were spray painted a high-gloss white to bring a modern feel to them and pairing them alongside the very modern Ikea Tolsby frame really gave the centerpieces that modern look I was going for.
As the girls arrived they all put their “Secret Santa” present on Rudolph’s table who would keep watch over them until it was time to do the Secret Santa Reveal!
One of the highly anticipated activities was the Gingerbread House decorating contest where the girls and their families created a gingerbread house together at home and brought it to the party to compete against one another for the grand prize of an Applebee’s gift card! To display their creative houses, I designed a whimsical tablescape named “Gingerbread Lane” where all of the houses were displayed in a village setting with a gorgeous silver manzanita tree centerpiece all decked out in sparkly Christmas balls and a cute plush penguin alongside it to tower over the village.
Our cookie exchange table displayed all of the girls’ cookies they baked themselves with their families and brought to share. The party printables were all part of my signature “Sprinkles” design collection that works perfectly to bring in a custom, personalized touch. Each girl was given a box with a personalized label that they filled with one of each cookie to take home.
Next up was the activity table that housed supplies for two activities and some take-home goodies! The centerpiece here was a glass vase filled with mini sparkly ornaments and topped with sprays of multi-colored discs. A cool alternative to regular flowers. The first activity was sewing a stocking decorating it with cool tags and stickers.
The sparkly Santa riding in a car was one of my favorite decor elements. It was so whimsical and unexpected and set the tone for the second activity which was writing Letters to Santa as part of Macy’s “Believe” Campaign for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. All the girls wrote a letter to Santa and then decorated the letter and envelope with stickers. The girls really got into this and to see them all writing letters to Santa for a good cause was PRICELESS!
Santa himself made a surprise appearance to personally collect all the letters from the girls and took time out of his busy schedule to talk to each girl about what they wanted for Christmas.
Tamara from Stay Classic Photography generously donated her time to come and take photos of all of the girls with Santa!
After eating yummy pizza, it was time for dessert! I gave our signature “Sprinkles” cupcake bar a holiday look & feel and incorporated it into this event. The girls were given their own custom Lolli-tag™ cupcake topper with their name on it (part of the “Sprinkles” Design Collection) to put in their cupcakes. Then it was time to DECORATE their cupcake creations with colorful sprinkles and their choice of 3 different custom fondant cupcake toppers made by the FABULOUSLY talented Lynlee of Lynlee’s Petite Cakes! Our Girl Scout troop number is 19 (hence the #19 toppers). The girls had a blast decorating their cupcakes and even more fun eating them!
To top it all off, each girl was given a custom Marshmallow stick made by the AWESOME Marshmallow Studio to take home. They were so awesome to create these in our color palette! Marshmallows happen to be my daughter’s favorite sweet and she was more than happy to dig right in!
Last, but certaintly not least, while perusing the latest Bird’s Party Holiday Magazine, I came across the coolest sock snowman craft activity from The Purple Pug! Immediately, I knew the girls would LOVE making these and it wouldn’t break the bank! Here you can see two of their sock snowmen creations. Thanks Purple Pug for sharing this cool craft….the girls had a blast making these 🙂
The night was full of smiles and good cheer! I hope you found some inspiration here to do your own Christmas Party for your little ones.
TIP: Take full advantage and plan ahead for next year and stock up on cool Christmas decor items during the after-Christmas sales where everything is 60-75% off! That’s what I did last year and LOOK….even this party, with our modest Girl Scout budget, can be FABULOUS!
