On to Day #2…the day of Operation Shower!
40 moms-to-be and their guests were set to arrive to the shower at 12pm. At 7am, I woke up in the hotel room and IMMEDIATELY looked outside to see if all of our prayers for better weather have been answered and YES…..HALLELUJAH…it was sunny and warm! A complete 180 from yesterday’s cold, rainy weather!
Off to Torrey Pines Golf Course we go to setup for the shower! My girl, Michelle from Maddycakes Muse and I drove over together which was cool as we got to know each other and a lot about each other’s businesses! That girl is just AMAZING! You must check out her blog… she is truly a DIY Diva!
Upon our arrival, we immediately got to work setting up our tables. Let’s take a quick peek at what the tent looked like BEFORE we designers arrived…
We all were BUSY, BUSY setting up our tables and putting on the finishing touches. But, as we were finishing our tables, a great thing happened! Other designers began to help those designers who needed help! Such camaraderie was in that room! No competitive weirdness…no egos…just a sense of humbleness and excitement to be involved in such a fantastic day for such deserving moms.
Abigail, Paper and Cake’s owner couldn’t even make it to the event, but boy, was her presence EVERYWHERE! She designed the fabulous printables that really brought a whimsical touch to everything.
In her place was Jordan who had 2 tables to setup! She was working her butt off getting them ready! I finished my table early and began to help Jordan and Jenn (Hostess with the Mostess) with their tables. I know, I know…this only is cool to probably me, but Jenn is one of my mentors…so helping her was very rewarding for me! So cool! We were all pitching in everywhere we could to get ready! It was a mad dash to the very end.
As the moms began to arrive, they checked in to get their table assignments and then went to the Project Nursery Baby Bump Photo Booth where the FABULOUS The Pixel Studio was photographing all the expectant mom’s baby bumps! These shots were just too cute!!! Such a meaningful keepsake. Darn…I wish I had done that with my last pregnancy! Oh well! THAT SHIP HAS SAILED!
Next, the moms were all escorted to their assigned tables. The moms were excited to see all the table designs. I spent some time talking to the moms that were seated at my table. It was heartwarming to hear their stories. Once all the moms arrived, the program began! Carl’s Jr. provided lunch for all the guests. They literally pulled up a huge trailer with fountain drinks on the side and cooked the burgers to order inside the truck. So cool!
The program, emceed by Brian Worley, was kicked off by Birdies for the Brave® calling this the “Superbowl of Showers” and HE WAS RIGHT! LET THE GIVEAWAYS BEGIN! The moms were so excited! They all received bouncy seats, tubs, crib bedding from Carousel Designs and more!
The last giveaway was PHENOMENAL! All the moms received a CRIB from Pottery Barn Kids! Let me repeat…ALL OF THE MOMS RECEIVED A POTTERY BARN KIDS CRIB!!! WOAH! There was not a dry eye in the place!
Then the finale! All the moms were presented with their Operation Showers in a Box full of all kinds of baby essentials. The attention to detail was amazing as each had in their box gender specific items.
My favorite part of the shower was seeing all the newborns that were there. Some of the moms had already delivered their babies by the time the shower came around and to see all the tiny faces made the shower seem even more real! CAN I DIGRESS A MINUTE….Seeing all these newborns also made me miss my little baby boy even more…who was back at the hotel with Daddy and my daughters. I happen to be nursing and away from my baby for HOURS!!! LADIES…YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS! TORTURE!
Okay, back to the shower! I know…I know…. you all are just waiting to see the table designs by each designer, I’m sure. Can I just say that I was blown away by the creativity each table displayed. I felt so inspired by seeing what everyone came up with and how they incorporated Pottery Barn Kids products. There were moments of BRILLANCE on each designer’s table. I can’t wait to show you the details of all the tables, including mine in a followup post later this week once everyone has had a chance to reveal their own tables.
First up, a look at my “Girly Safari Tea Party” table. I will be doing a full post on the table and all the items I used and details coming up.
