Hey party peeps!
It’s RAINBOW WEEK and THEME THURSDAYS! Today I’m sharing with you a Teen Rainbow & Mad Hatter Gothic Alice in Wonderland Party I styled for a dear friend’s UN-Quinceañera! This was a blast to design! The teens had so much fun! The guest of honor came dressed as the Queen of Hearts…PRICELESS!
The actual party was at night and I used LOTS of uplights and spotlights and submerged flora-lytes everywhere to give the party a gothic colorful glow! Unfortunately I did the party a few years ago BEFORE I realized just how important professional photography is do your business and I didn’t have any photos of the darkened room….bummmer!
THE INVITES
It all began with the invite! We printed them as VIP passes with lanyards that the birthday girl gave out to her VIP friends at school. They all wore them the party.
THE PRINTABLES
I custom designed a printable collection for this called “Gothic Wonderland”. It is now available in our shop and can be customized for birthdays. Click here for details.
THE DRINKS & SWEETS
The drink station had 3 different neon colored drinks with glow ice cubes inside…too cool! The cupcakes all had custom designed printable cupcake toppers.
THE DECORATIONS
The decor plan was a mix of black gothic elements like:
• black iron arch and trees
• black tablecloths
• printables backed with black glitter paper
• black bling flowers
• black scroll die-cut scrapbook paper
• black blumeboxes embellished with black bling mini flowers
• custom mushroom art piece (I spraypainted black and added rhinestones & glitter circles)
Then I added a HUGE splash of bright colored:
• tall flower & curly wood stick centerpieces
• lanterns
• glass gem rocks
• flower topiaries with mini butterflies
• flower beach umbrella
• jumbo & mini butterflies
• pillows
GIRLFRIEND TIP: For each seated table I created these centerpieces of blue rocks that were lit up from underneath with colorful mini butterflies hovering overhead all inside a glass cylinder topped with a purple flower ball. I also placed black scroll die-cut scrapbook paper on top of brightly colored satin table runners.
THE PHOTO BOOTH
The feather boa photo booth backdrop was a HUGE HIT!
Earlier this week I shared by tutorial on how to make this. To find out how to make one yourself, click here.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: The great thing about teen parties…you can just set up the photo booth backdrop, add a few props like the infamous Ikea Drill frame and a lifesize Mad Hatter cardboard standup and let the kids do the rest! They pull out their camera phones and have a blast!
