Hey party peeps!
This month has been SUPER BUSY for me! My daughter turned 10 last week and thought I’d share the Avatar Birthday party we did for her last year. She really wanted to create an environment similar to the planet where the Avatars lived and specifically wanted to have each guest make their faces up to resemble the blue characters. She also wanted to have a “big girl” party where they didn’t sit down and have pizza and cake…but rather wanted non-stop fun and activities from the time each guest arrived to when they left! She was the event planner for this one….complete with:
– a full size rock wall
– glow in the dark everything
– Tree of Life replica
– AND….a party bus!
So, here it is! Faith’s AVATAR party…enjoy the pics…I sure did enjoy the trip down memory lane 😉
AVATAR FACE PAINTING BAR!
Each guest had their own blue basket that contained an AVATAR makeup kit so that they could get creative and transform their faces into little Avatars! They really got into this! I was surprised! They even did each others…I don’t think one girl opted out of this…they were all running around with blue faces! Priceless!!!
AVATAR GLOW IN THE DARK PLANET!
The girls had a BLAST with this activity! I bought that Crayola glow in the dark dust that really works! The girls took it into the backyard and sprinkled it everywhere. I also put out lots of glow in the dark chalk and glow sticks so the girls could get creative transforming the yard into their own little Avatar planet!
For the decor inside the house I switched all of or recess light bulbs with blue bulbs and a few blacklight bulbs to give the room that awesome blue glow. The blacklight also helped with illuminating the light areas in the room as well as all the glow sticks! It was so AWESOME in person! It’s hard to get good photos of nighttime decor…I am clearly not a pro photographer 😉
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Those AVATAR long posters hanging in the windows are actually the packaging that the Avatar Bow and Arrow toys came in. They were the perfect size and added some much needed AVATAR atmosphere. Did I mention that the only Avatar stuff out there last year were plates, the makeup kits and the bow and arrows! So, I used them for decor! See the paper plate backdrop on the wall? I used Avatar dessert plates layered on top of two other bigger plates to create a wow factor backdrop!
AVATAR ROCK WALL!
My daughter was so surprised to see this full size, giant rock wall come rolling down the street and set up shop right in front of our house! This was the ONE THING she wanted for her birthday! She wanted to rock climb and I didn’t want to do her party at a play place that had one! A STAND OFF! So, I did what any other ROCK STAR PARTY PLANNIN’ MAMA would do…I called all around town to find a company who would bring a full size rock wall to us! A little over the top, I know…but she and her guests LOVED it! Event the adults got in on the action!
THE PARTY BUS FINALE!
The girls were busy on the rock wall well into when it got dark and then the finale rolled up…literally! A full size party bus rolled down our street with laser lights and music bumpin’! The girls were all looking and had NO IDEA it was for them. Then the door opened and I announced it was time for little Avatars to go for a ride! The screams from these little girls was priceless! They all ran onboard and LOST THEIR MINDS! They were dancing and jumping around and having the time of their lives!
This party was the talk of the school for weeks! How will I top this one? Uh-oh…I may have set the bar high! Well, last week Faith turned 10 and we celebrated with not just one, but TWO parties…a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party for four AND a “Kitty-licous” sleepover for 6 of her BFFs! Sharing pics next week of the TMNT party and coming soon all the details from the Kitty party…you don’t want to miss that one…total CUTENESS overload!
Cheers!
