Hey party peeps!
Today is Throwback Thursdays and I LOVE sharing some of my party pics from back in the day when I first started! Today I’m sharing my Elmo in the Wild Party Ideas fom my nephew Devin’s party when he turned 2. He just graduated thiso year to 6th grade so this is definitely a blast from the past! Congrats Devin!
My little boy is turning 2 in December and LOVES Elmo! In fact, the entire time I was doing this post, he kept pointing to the screen and yelling “ELMO! ELMO!” So, I’m thinking it may just be an Elmo party I’ll be planning again for his 2nd birthday party with a different twist of course!
This time, the party theme was Elmo in The Wild based on a DVD that my nephew watched all the time! Here are a few ideas for what I did for his party.
WEAR CUSTOM ELMO T-SHIRTS!
To set the tone of the party I made custom iron-on transfers for Devin, his brother and Mom & Dad. Of course, my sisters and I who hosted the party also dressed the part!
CREATE A WOW FACTOR WITH JUMBO SIZED PERSONALIZED BLOCKS!
Such a wow factor addition to the room’s decor! I created the blocks out of different sized boxes. Simply wrap them all with colored paper and place letters for your child’s name on the front of each one.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: To get this cool look try to use boxes that go from large to small.
COOL IDEAS FOR ELMO CENTERPIECES!
For the main dining table, I ordered from an Etsy shop this Elmo doll holding blocks that spelled out Devin’s name and used it as the main centerpiece of the kid’s dining table. Of course this also doubled as a gift to him from me which ended up in his Elmo themed room after the party! I also ordered chocolate Elmo lollipops from Etsy and displayed them in round fishbowls (we all know that Elmo’s best friend is Dorothy the goldfish). I also placed one in each guest’s napkin as an extra special touch. For a whimsical pop of color to the gift table, I displayed stacks multi-colored boxes and used huge inflatable crayons with a large ELMO toy as the centerpiece for the favor table.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Since Devin loved Elmo so much, he had ALOT of Elmo toys already that I could use to decorate the party which is such a budget saver! Want to know where to get those inflatable crayons? Years ago, I got them from Oriental Trading, but now you can get them here from Windy City Novelty.
SETUP AN ELMO COLORING WALL!
Super easy and so much fun for the kids! This may be the ONLY time your kids will actually be allowed to color on the walls! I just removed pages from a jumbo coloring book and taped them onto the wall, put out crayons for the kids. They LOVED IT!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Be sure to cover your entire wall with huge sheets of banner paper. This will ensure that if the kids color off the coloring sheets, they won’t have accidents on your wall.
This party so much fun! We had a bounce house in the backyard that even the adults got in on the fun. I also put up Devin’s Elmo tent and put blocks out for the kids who wanted some quiet play.
