Hey party peeps!
Super excited to share with you my tutorial on how to make your own Kitty Party Favors: Kitty Collar Necklaces! These were actually an activity that I had at my tween daughter, Faith’s “Kitty-licious” birthday party this year as seen on Hostess With The Mostess today. HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
MY CRAFTING RULE OF 3’s!
Super easy and budget friendly! These collars are easy to make. You guys know I have a crafting rule of 3’s when it comes to crafting. This means that I try to do crafts that have no more than 3 steps and require no more than 3 supplies. For me, I don’t have the patience beyond that AND frankly if it takes more than that, I’d rather buy it already made 😉 I know..I know…I’m sure those hard core crafters out there probably think that’s blasphemy…but with a house full of 4 kids, a husband and business to run…I have to pick my time battles…and a complicated craft that takes all day to do just isn’t for me.
This rule is especially important when you want kids to do a craft since their attention spans are shorter and want to see the end result faster.
3 SUPPLIES IS ALL YOU’LL NEED!
For my party we had 8 guests so I needed enough supplies to make atleast 8. I always have extra supplies on hand also just in case something is broken or the girls mess up and need another item, so I usually get enough supplies to make double…so for this, I had enough to make 16 necklaces.
– 1 spool of 7/8″ pink cheetah print ribbon ($3 for 5 yard spool at Michael’s)
– 2 packs of large bling buckle sliders ($2.99 for 1 pack of 4 online here at Hobby Lobby)
– 16 self-adhesive velcro tabs (Michael’s, Walmart, JoAnn Fabrics)
3 STEPS IS ALL IT TAKES!
1. cut the ribbon to fit each girl’s neck with a little overlap
2. thread the ribbon through the sparkle buckle
3. stick the velcro tab on the end of the ribbon
DON’T FORGET THE DETAILS!
A fabulous party design is all about the details! Don’t just have the supplies sitting in a bucket. I take every chance to display everything! For this I designed an activity area on the Beauty Bar for the Kitty Collar supplies. I took all the sparkle buckles out of the packaging and displayed them in a martini glass full of pink crystals. I also customized the spool of ribbon by sticking a custom “Kitty-licious” printable circle on the label to cover up the manufacturer’s label…which…let’s face it..its ugly!
