Hey party peeps!
This week is Character Week and today I’m sharing part 2 of my Backyardigans Party Ideas – Games!
Yesterday’s post was all about the decor. If you missed it, click here for Backyardigans Party Decoration ideas. For any kid’s party, the decor is only half the fun! Keeping kids entertained is key!
CREATE A FUN GAME ZONE!
I bring what I call Game Zones to almost all my parties. It’s a great way for kids of all ages to have fun. Planning Backyardigans party games doesn’t have to be as hard as it sounds. Simply use generic games you can buy anywhere and display the Backyardigan characters by each game either on the game signs or like I did with character standups. The games can either be self-serve or hosted. For an added designer touch, be sure to create game signs for each game.
Games include:
Obstacle Course
Ball Toss
Beanbag Toss
Bubbles
Scavenger Hunt
Ball Catch
GIRLFRIEND TIP: When doing games outside, be sure to use wooden character stand ups so they do not blow over. Cardboard stand ups will blow over. Also, if you have a party with a mix of older and younger kids like this one, we had the older kids run each of the games and the younger kids played them.
CREATE A GAME ZONE PRIZE TABLE!
Instead of doing traditional party favors, why not create a display table full of favors that each guest can take at the end of the party. I do this for my Game Zones as it builds excitement and encourages every kid to actually play the games (even the shy ones)! I setup the Game Zone Prize Table in the same area of the Game Zone so that the kids can see it and get excited to finish all the games so they can visit the table and get all their prizes.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: For kids parties, I buy one of each prize for all the guests instead of having it be a competition for the prizes. Everyone gets the same prizes and everyone is happy…no bickering…no drama!
