Hey party peeps!
Rollin’ right along with Character Week where I’m featuring some of my favorite character parties I’ve designed for my family and friends over the years. Today I’m sharing Dora The Explorer Party Ideas!
Dora is still popular! After all these years! Both my daughter’s watched Dora when they were young and now my young son loves it! I must admit I know ALL the songs and dance and sing around with my kids. Ahhh…to be a young kid again! I digress…back to party ideas. Character parties can be a bit overdone if you’re not careful and will look like everyone else’s Dora party if you only rely on the character party supplies you find in the stores. I knew I didn’t want to use any of the commercial party supplies out there so I set out to design my own unique theme.
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
DECOR PLAN: DORA PARTY DECORATIONS
To put my own spin on a traditional Dora The Explorer Birthday party, I designed a Dora’s Flower Garden Party by using lots of bright flowers as my main decor item and a bright purple, orange, hot pink, yellow and lime green color palette. The result was vibrant, bright and whimsical!
Decor highlights included:
• Huge oversized flower umbrellas
• Pink saucer lounge chairs
• Personalized printables
• Personalized make your own candy necklace kits on every placesetting
• Blumeboxes holding printable Lolli-tag bouquets
• Personalized cookie bags
GIRLFRIEND TIP: If I had known then what I know now: Always steam or iron your linen BEFORE your party. It makes a world of difference! As you can see in these pics I didn’t do it and boy do I wish I did…every wrinkle shows.
DORA DRESS UP BAR!
My absolute favorite part of this party was the super cute Dress UP area that had bright pettiskirt tutus, flower hair clips and sunglasses for each guest that matched the party colors perfectly! It was so adorable watching all the little girls playing and dancing around in their tutus and hair clips!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: As a special touch for the birthday girl, I designed her a special personalized t-shirt using an iron-on transfer. Iron-on transfers are included in all of our printable packages … you can see why … the birthday girl matches the party and looks adorable!
Designing an unique character party can be challenging, but if you follow my 7 simple steps to pulling off a character party without using any commercial party supplies, it’s easy! Check out this post I wrote a while ago showing how I designed a Lalaloopsy party without using any commercial party supplies.
