Hey party peeps!
FASHION WEEK in NYC is wrapping up and we’re celebrating with this LA DEE DA INSPIRED PARTY OUTFIT AND ACCESSORY FAVOR BAR featuring the fabulous Nevaeh’s Baby Couture Boutique who created this LaDeeDa dress replica and matching custom accessories that I used to design an Accessory Favor Bar. Did you check out my latest Trend Alert post over on Hostess With The Mostess where I shared with you the newest trend in party planning–custom designed outfits made to match your party’s theme perfectly! If you missed it, you can click here to check it out. Today I’m sharing with you guys my take on this hot new trend!
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
So, my daughters Faith and Riley love the LaDeeDa doll collection. LaDeeDa dolls are 4 trendy teenage BFFs studying fashion design in New York City. They love all things fashion. My daughters also love all things fashion and are always dressing up and putting on their own fashion shows. Creating a LaDeeDa inspired party was a no-brainer! Since the party theme is all about fashion design I knew I wanted to work with a designer who could create gorgeous one-of-a-kind couture pieces. Jessica Ruiz, owner of Nevaeh’s Baby Couture Boutique was the first person I called. She has created jaw-dropping pieces for my “Bitten” and “Girly Circus” parties and knew she would nail it. And, she did!
CUSTOM LA DEE DA DOLL DRESS REPLICA FOR THE GUEST OF HONOR
I sent her a photo of the LaDeeDa doll, Dee, and she created this FABULOUS replica of the dress she wears with AMAZING detail! Not only did she create the dress, but she was inspired by the NYC accents in the dress itself and designed a taxi-cab purse and recreated the iconic pin cushion bracelet that Dee wears. Riley felt like a real life LaDeeDa doll! Her face when she put it on…PRICELESS!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: The dress was such a hit that my daughter wears it all the time and since it’s one of a kind, she gets comments on it all the time. The cost is well worth it to me since she can wear the dress multiple times since it was high-quality and not a low-quality costume.
SET UP A LA DEE DA ACCESSORIES DRESS UP BAR
Whenever I begin a party’s decor plan based around a character, I do my research on the character itself and look at what makes it unique and if they have any signature characteristics like colors. I decided to focus my design around the main character, Dee whose signature items included a red bow, red flower and turquoise dress. My color palette was pulled from her outfit–turquoise and red. Instead of using a plain turquoise tablecloth, I used a more high-end designer turquoise rosette taffeta linen that added a nice splash of color and visual interest with the floral pattern. I wanted the dress itself to be star of the show so I placed it on a tabletop wire dress form and used it as the centerpiece of the table.
MATCHING LA DEE DA ACCESSORIES FOR GUESTS
Jessica designed 4 sets of fabulous LaDeeDa inspired jewelry pieces that each of the 4 guests could dress up in and take home after the party. The details in the designs are simply AMAZING! My favorite is her signature bib necklaces. What a unique way to jazz up a plain white tank top! LOVE THESE! The red flower is on a clip and can be easily removed from the tank and used in multiple ways. Wouldn’t it also be cute clipped onto a tote bag to add a splash of glam?
GIRLFRIEND TIP: There were only a total of 4 guests for this due to the couture nature of the items which can get pricey. With a smaller guest count, I was able to use my budget for one-of-a-kind items that I simply couldn’t have been able to do for a large party.
CUSTOM LA DEE DA SKETCH BOOK FAVORS!
Jessica custom designed these fabric sketch books based on Dee’s signature red flower that she wears in her hair! How amazing is that! The girls wasted no time in sketching out some really cool fashion designs.
