Hey party peeps! Today’s party post was inspired by my childhood friend who contacted me to custom design her a set of Cute As A Fox party printables for her son Joey’s first birthday party. She was in love with the Fox theme for the party and was frustrated at the lack of cute Fox themed printables so she called me. I was more than excited to design this collection as my son too loves animals and in fact, I have had my eye on this super cute “Folksy Foresters” collection of corduroy stuffed animals (fox, bear, raccoon, rabbit and beaver) from The Manhattan Toy Company for a while now. I also had a custom argyle hat and bow tie made for him by Dakko Baby that worked perfectly as the outfit for the birthday boy! Immediately I had my inspiration and was ready to get going! THE DESIGN:
The whole Fox trend was really in high gear last year! I mean, really, who didn’t know that song, What Does The Fox Say! I didn’t want to just focus on the fox so I decided to do a more woodland animal theme in the design so I could include all the other cute animals from the Folksy Foresters collection. The decor plan was easy as the printables were already designed with a mix of bold patterns in fall colors, so I simply incorporated the colors and focused on only one of the patterns in the collection — chevron. Instead of going overboard with it, I only used it in key areas like favor bags, runners and paper straws. To give the overall design a playful boyish feel I used denim as my design base so that the patterns and fabrics in the decor could pop. Denim and corduroy together just has such a cool boyish charm to it. To complete the look I added in wood and trees to give the design an outdoorsy feel.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: When using a plain color linen I always pair it with a bright bold runner like this orange and white one from Koyal Wholesale displayed vertically for a pop of color. I also do this whenever I use a plain colored backdrop. This time I hung these fabulous paper tree garlands, by Tutus and Bowties Events, vertically that gives the backdrop a cool pop of color with just a bit of texture and pattern.
Cute As A Fox Sweets Bar
Using the printables as inspiration, my fondant dream team created these fabulous fondant cakes with fondant toppers! How fabulous are those displayed side by side as the wow factor to the sweets bar! Edible Details created all four of the fondant animal letters which are such a hot trend right now. AND…Fancy Cakes created the mini cakes that I could display the fondant letters on. What an awesome combination, right?
GIRLFRIEND TIP: When you have a smaller guest count or not a huge budget for a candy or dessert table, I suggest using LOTS of decorative items on the table to create a visually stunning table that doesn’t look empty. Display the candy or desserts in cool bulky containers like these big wood planter boxes from Koyal Wholesale that not only add to the table’s decor and theme but also fills up lots of space on the table.
Cute As A Fox Dining Table
Using the Folksy Foresters collection I created this super cute tablescape complete with personalized placesettings for each guest.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Trying to have guests, especially kids, keep track of their drinks is near impossible, so I designed personalized drink wraps with each guest’s name on them and wrapped them around mini mason jars with lids from Hoopla Events so that guests can keep track of their own drinks. Can I get a high five!!!
Cute As A Fox Party Favors
Each guest took home one of the smaller Folksy Forester 6″ rabbit or beaver stuffed animals and a foam bear or raccoon mask that they also could wear as photo props in photos. Don’t just stuff your favors inside a favor box or bag! Take the opportunity to display the favors on a table and decorate it up so that it adds additional decor to your party space.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Whenever I have a smaller guest count for my parties, I like to focus the budget for favors on a few quality items that I know the guests will love and actually keep. Obviously ordering 25 small plush animals for a larger guest count may break your budget, but The Manhattan Toy Company offers the Folksy Forester Small Pack for $72 that includes 8 quality 6″ plush animals (4 of each rabbit and beaver). Which is doable for a party of 8…AND… I use them in the decor as well so that I can get double-duty out of them and then have the kids go on a “hunt” looking for all the beavers and rabbits in the party decor to take home. So much fun! For the birthday boy or girl I always gift them the larger 3 plush (fox, bear and raccoon) that I too use in the party’s decor.
