T-shirt to benefit two amazing organizations whose missions help directly support Military Families — Operation Shower who provides baby essentials and organizes group baby showers for expectant moms whose husbands or partners are or will be deployed during the pregnancy and Minnesota Military Family Foundation provides grants to service members and their families during times of financial stress. For me, THIS IS PERSONAL!
If you guys have been following me for a while you know that I am a new proud mama of a US Navy Sailor! My son went into Basic Training (boot camp) this year after high school graduation and actually turned 18 while in boot camp! I was on pins and needles the entire time and had my phone strapped to me at all times in the rare chance that he might call to let me know that he’s okay. Are there other Military Moms out there that can relate to this?
When I attended my son’s boot camp graduation I was amazed by the amount of women I saw graduating and was even more touched by the number of them whose young children ran up to them afterwards with big hugs! I couldn’t imagine what that Military Navy Mom must go through when she is deployed.
I also saw MANY wives with kids and pregnant wives and imagined what they must face on a day-to-day basis when dealing with the stress of deployment and being away from their husbands during their pregnancies or trying to raise small kids alone.
And then there were Moms like me. Moms full of pride and tears of joy flowing as we hugged our new sailors and watched them as they walked out of childhood and marched into their destiny as adults to defend our country!
