Happy Holidays party peeps! It’s Christmas Week and I for one am so excited to have my family together for the holidays! My son is home from the NAVY and I couldn’t be happier! Today’s post I’m going to show you how to Setup a Grinch Themed Kid’s Table for Christmas Dinner. In my house, I host Christmas dinner with my family every year and each year, I LOVE to setup a really cool themed table for the kids to eat at. Remember those days when you were a kid and had to have your Christmas table at the dreaded “kids table”! Well, this is a kids’ table your kids will LOVE to eat at!
This year I was inspired by the fabulous Dr. Seuss Grinch Collection at The Manhattan Toy Company and knew right away this would be the theme for this year’s kids’ table. My youngest two kids have never seen the movie, How The Grinch Stole Christmas so we watched it on Christmas Eve as a surprise in their Christmas Eve Box. Check out this new tradition here.
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
I placed the kids’s table right next to the adult table so they were still a part of the family dinner but had their own special table at the same time. Check out my tips for setting up your own Grinch Themed Christmas Kid’s Table:
Use Grinch Toys in the Table’s Design
I use this tip all the time in almost all of my themed parties. Using toys in the table’s design is a great way to pull in the theme and the toys make great gifts for the kids too! You should see their faces light up when they realize the toys are theirs to keep!
Include an Activity at the Table
These Grinch finger puppets were the perfect addition to the table. They don’t take up much room and are easy for the kids to play with at the table while waiting for their parents to bring their food.
Offer a Sweet Treat on the Table
I love placing a sweet treat on each child’s placesetting! This allows the kid’s to have their dessert right away after they are done eating and adds such a whimsical touch to the table.
Use Whimsical Decorations that Compliment the Grinch Theme
The Grinch story and movie takes place in Who-ville which is such a magical and whimsical setting. Look for whimsical, bright and cheery decor pieces to accent that feeling. I used this glittered whimsical Christmas tree and bright glittery JINGLE piece to add a pop of color and sparkle. For added drama I displayed a large cardboard standup of Santa’s Sleigh from Oriental Trading in front of the Grinch gift table.
Grinch Themed Gift Table
On a table next to the Christmas tree, I placed Christmas gifts for the family from the kids in these pre-printed boxes from Oriental Trading which are truly lifesavers! I use pre-printed boxes all the time to place hard to place toys or gifts in so they look amazing displayed on a table. Not to mention how stress-LESS this is instead of wrapping.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!

People tend to forget to decorate the kids table and decorate the head table beautifully. I want to go sit with the kids instead if it was set up like this. Everyone wants to feel like a Who from Whoville this time of the year. This is awesome.

This is such a brilliant idea! We never create a table for the kiddies and I think the bigger they get the more space they need (on their own). Will definitely do this next year! Thanks for sharing.
