Hey party peeps! It’s almost Valentine’s Day and here at my house we are celebrating early this week by hosting a Puppy Love Valentine’s Day Party for our new puppy Deizel. This is Deizel’s first Valentine’s Day as he is now 7 months old. We brought him home last September and boy were my kids EXCITED! They had been asking for a dog for years after we had to give up our other dog and I resisted and resisted as I wasn’t quite over the loss of our other dog. Then one day my husband showed me a photo of this little guy and it was over! Walls came down and my heart just filled with joy. He was to be the last addition to our family and for us, Valentine’s Day means that much more to us, so I did as any party planning mama would do…I setup a mini party in honor of our not-so-little puppy!
PUPPY LOVE TREAT BAR!
Deizel is a Cane Corso which is a relative to the mastiff and is expected to be a really BIG dog. Even though he is still a puppy at 7 months old, he is the size of most full grown dogs! In the course of training him, we use many treats AND due to his size…we go through MANY TREATS! The kids love to reward him with dog treats and his favorites are MilkBone dog biscuits. When shopping in Walmart last week for a new box of MilkBone dog biscuits (Walmart carries the really big box which is so great for us since we have a big dog) the kids noticed the Pup-peroni treats and thought it would be awesome to give Deizel a new treat for Valentine’s Day, so I decided to setup a treat bar full of both of these yummy treats and include yummy treats for the kids that worked with the theme so of course these chocolate “poopy” cupcakes and brownie bite “terds” topped with bone sprinkles was the perfect touch and the laughs and “ewwws” from the kids when I told them what they were eating was priceless!
DECOR ON A BUDGET!
Celebrating life’s smaller milestone moments like this doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I always shop in my own house first. I borrowed the LOVE marquee letters from my daughter’s room and swapped out decor in an existing area in my house. Since the party would be in honor of Deizel, I decided to decorate with photos taken on the day he came home so I just printed out four 8×10 photos and mounted them with reusable glue dots to the fronts of the framed photos already hanging on a photo wall in my house.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: This is a tip I use all the time when hosting parties at my house. Use the frames you already have and simply swap out the photos so you can create a themed photo wall without having to put any additional holes in my walls.
While at Walmart I picked up a few inexpensive clear acrylic containers to hold the dog treats to display on the treat bar but also that would double as treat containers for the treats year-round. These two sizes were perfect to hold both the long Pup-peroni treats and the large MilkBone dog biscuits. I also picked up a $4 pack of felt hearts that went a long way by using them to decorate the treat bar and the dining table.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: I love coming up with creative and unique decor for plates so I came up with the idea of placing items in-between two clear plastic plates that match my party’s theme. Here I used red felt hearts and personalized each plate with a chipboard initial of each of the kid’s names. Super easy and the look is custom.
The kids had a blast playing “hide & go seek” with Deizel with the Pup-peroni dog treats. They are soft so they break up into smaller pieces easily and they have a really strong beefy smell so Deizel could easily find them when the kids hid them all over the house. For more fun the kids decorated a dog bowl that would hold Deizel’s new balls.

We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but I think this is a fun idea for a party! Very creative.
OMG, I heart Diezel! He is so beautiful! *LOVE*
I guess i now have to add our dog to the gift list.. the bar idea sounds so good.
That dog is so adorable…and so are the kids! These are some great pics!
Oh my, that’s a lot of Valentine love to go around! I no longer decorate for Valentine’s Day, as my daughter is a teen and doesn’t get into it any more, but these are all very nice!
This sounds like an awesome party! Such a sweet idea. Love your decor and ideas. I’m not big on Valentines day but this gets me excited.
That is such a nice idea! We honestly dont know any other dog owners but I love to pick up Milk Bone treats for our little guy 🙂
Tonya – Loved your tips – your photos – your ideas – and your Diezel
Such a fun idea – and he’s such a cute pup!
Too cute!!
He is such a cute dog! Love the pics and the idea of the party!
I love this whole thing especially including your pup! Great photos!
I love this idea so much! And you have an absolutely adorable doggy family.
That is such a gorgeous party! The shot of the dog looking right at the camera is too cute – happy woofday!!!
Great Pics. I’m sure any doggie would feel totally loved if they got this special treat for Valentine’s Day!
Mr. D is very photogenic!
What an awesome tribute to the furry friends! Your pup will definitely appreciate the extra snacks and attention!
The dog is so cute and I bet that he’s treated so dearly just like another family member. How big will Diezel be when it becomes fully grown?
My dog looovveess Milk Bone so much! He’s absolutely crazy for those doggy treats hehe!
The picture at the puppy bar is awesome. Totally made me laugh… looks like someone’s ready for treat time, ha! 🙂
These are amazing photos. We have to keep all the dog treats out of sight or my one dog will sit and guard the treats from the other dog. We like to make homemade treats for them.
Oh my goodness! Those pictures melted my heart. You have beautiful children and an adorable puppy!
Such a sweet and adorable idea. We don’t have a dog. But I know for certain that my SIL would love that idea.
What a cute doggie. I have never had a Valentine’s Day party but I could see my daughter doing a party with the dog.
There is just too much cuteness in this post! Everything and everybody looks so lovely!
I have a friend who has a ‘blue’ Cane Corso and he’s over 100lb and just about 2 years old. He’s a giant. Such a softy though and gorgeous. Your pup is adorable!! Love your treat bar. That a great idea for a pup party. I used to have 2 boxers and we had birthday parties for them. Our friends would come over. Then my oldest boy passed away 3 years ago and I just haven’t had the heart to do parties anymore. Which makes me sad because his younger sister and our newest addition should have parties too.
What a beautiful dog! Love all your idea for a puppy love party and treat bar. So cute. #client
How cute is this? I bet the kiddos and they puppy had a blast!
Awww, what an awesome party idea! This is adorable! Looks like everyone had a great time!
I don’t have a dog but this is such a fun idea. I love your wall setting that you have and would so do that as well.
What a cute party! I love the idea of a having a puppy party!
That is one lucky puppy! And a beautiful family 🙂
I love this idea! We have a sweet pup too (though much smaller). She is such a member of the family, and I know she would love this!
Diezel is a lucky pup to be surrounded by so much love. You can really tell how much he’s part of the family by all the great pictures.
I know I say this often, but my daughter would LOVE this. She’s a huge fan of dogs, so she’s down for dog anything. We only have cats, so whenever she can celebrate dogs, she will 😉
Your family is so beautiful and your kids seem to be giving so much love to your dogs! Happy Valentine’s Day to all when it gets here.
All your photos of the dogs are really making me sad because I currently don’t have a pal! I can’t wait to get another puppy to cuddle with and shower with love!
I love the photos your included here – your dog is so cute hanging out with the kids! He is definitely going to be a huge dog though! I also loved how you did the plates for your table – I’m totally stealing that idea!
Oy, typos. *facepalm* Where’s an editor when you need one?
I love, love, love including my dogs in holidays (and my cats sometimes lol) Such a fun post! Diezel is such a cutie!
Wow! That is one seriously big puppy. I love the simple decorating idea of putting the hearts on the picture frames. It’s perfect!
I would love to bake these for my lil puppies! such beautiful pictures too!
I think it’s nice that you planned a Valentine’s party for your lovely dog! They deserve to feel loved too and this is the perfect occasion to show them that!
Hapi 7mos. old Deizel. You were so lucky to have a very caring and loving family. Deizel was such a handsome and tough dog and he was so adorable. Your treat bar that was full of yummy stuff for Deizel and family photos was very dearly.
