Hey party peeps! Well, it’s official—we are now HOMEOWNERS and we cannot be more excited! I have been waiting and waiting to be able to fully redesign our house, and I can finally do that now that the home we’ve been in for a few years is ours. I LOVE LOVE LOVE interior design and cannot wait to dive right in! So, be prepared for more home styling posts from me as I take you on the journey of how I will be redecorating our home. First up…our entryway. We have had a bare entryway for years now and this was THE FIRST decorating project I wanted to take on. Join me as I show you How to Style a Gold Accent Table.
START WITH AN INSPIRATION PIECE!
I am totally LOVIN’ the new GOLD TREND happening now in both party decor and home decor! While on a shopping trip to Target, I spotted this fabulous gold tray accent table and knew right away this would be the inspiration point for my decor project. To make it even better, Target had their entire line of gold accessories and accent furniture all in one aisle which made my job that much easier. I could just simply pick out accent pieces all in one place.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Whenever I go shopping for decor, I take a BEFORE shot of the space on my cell phone and bring the measurements with me so I have it handy when picking out pieces! I also tuck a mini measuring tape in my purse too so I can measure a piece BEFORE I buy it. Nothing’s worse than falling in love with a piece that is too small or too big for the space when you get it all the way home! NO THANKS!
PICK OUT ACCENT PIECES!
This is my favorite part! I will mix and match pieces right in the aisle of Target to see what I like and don’t like before I buy anything. Once I have decided on just the right look, I buy it and take it home. For my entryway, I knew I wanted a lamp as I just love how cozy a home looks when you enter and ambient light is on instead of a super bright overhead hall light. I also wanted to keep the look modern and monochromatic which is my design style. Target has a fabulous mix and match lamp collection so I played around with different shade and lamp base combinations before deciding on this one. The clear lamp base went perfectly with the light and airy look I was going for and pulled from the glass top of the accent table in my main inspiration piece.
ADD A WHIMSICAL DETAIL!
Okay, why a gold turtle you ask? Well, my youngest daughter is in LOVE with turtles! She has been for years. In fact her birthday party a few years ago was a turtle party. So, when I saw this gold turtle in Target I knew I had to have it. She would love it and it was modern and sleek and the perfect whimsical detail that will definitely be a conversation starter when guests enter my home. It is also a jar so I can conveniently pop my keys inside of it instead of on the table to keep it looking great and clutter-free!
ADD A TOUCH OF SPARKLE!
I LOVE a little sparkle! Shouldn’t every girl have some in her life? I think so! To add a bit of sparkle to my table design, I added a sparkly glass frame that keeps the table design light, airy and modern.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Why not use a simple, yet unexpected, WELCOME note in the frame. I just simply printed it on my home laser printer. I know, I know, a little bit unexpected! Most people would put a photo in the frame, but why not get creative and add a quote or simple word for a modern and unexpected twist.
Well, this is project #1 for the new house. What do you think?
