Hey party peeps! As many of you know my hubby and I are football fans and love hosting a Super Bowl party every year. I always have a themed candy table at the party and this year I’ve decided to set up a SKITTLES “TASTE THE RAINBOW” SUPER BOWL 50 PARTY CANDY TABLE inspired by Super Bowl 50’s candy sponsor this year—Skittles! I was actually shopping on Amazon.com for yet another care package to send my son who’s away in the Navy and happens to love Skittles, M&M’s and Starburst and came across some great deals for all three candies to put on my candy table. With a few clicks, the box from Amazon arrived and half my job was done. Next up…setting up the table.
This is where most people get intimidated and think they can’t design a fabulous table without breaking the bank. Well, here I’m going to share with you some of my signature “GIRLFRIEND TIPS” on how to put this fabulous table together affordably, quickly and with less stress so that on Game Day, you can actually enjoy your Super Bowl 50 party! Gotta love it!
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
Make Super Bowl 50 Even Sweeter with a self-serve candy station at your upcoming Super Bowl 50 party! First, from the comport of your own home, order your Skittles, M&M’s and Starburst from Amazon.com.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: For a limited time, participating products will be on sale for up to 20% off on Amazon! So stock up now on Skittles, Starburst and M&M’s for your Super Bowl 50 party!
Then to continue to keep costs down, head to your local party store and pick up some Super Bowl 50 party goods like these affordable plastic cups, dessert plates and paper decorations.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Think outside the box when buying your paper party supplies. I used the big plastic cups as candy holders instead of buying one for each guest! That would have been expensive! I also bought a pack of swirl ceiling decorations that included lots of paper diecuts that I cut off the strings and put on a wooden stick and used it as a centerpiece stick! I also used one of the football cutouts and decorated the front of the mini crock pot!
SET THE SCENE FOR A “TASTE THE RAINBOW” SUPER BOWL 5O PARTY!
I knew I wanted to use the colorful Skittles on the table so the rainbow colors would come from the candy itself. To compliment the rainbow colored candy, and inspired by the Super Bowl 50 party supplies, I stuck with a black, green and GOLD color palette. Gold is the color of a 50th party! I had the perfect gold sequin tablecloth to tie in the gold 50th theme and I balanced that with a football field astroturf tablecloth that I hung as a backdrop. I love how that turned out!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Don’t be afraid to use a bit of bling and shimmer on a football themed table. The gold works perfectly and adds a bit of fun to the table.
SERVE CANDY LOOSE AND IN THEIR PACKAGING!
To give the table a Football Snack Bar type of feel, I like to serve some of the Skittles, M&M’s and Starburst in their original packaging. This also makes snacking on them throughout the party easy as guests just pick up a pack and back to watching the game they go.
I also love to display the candy outside their packaging too which is always fun as you can get creative with how you display them like I did here by separating the Skittles into each color, I was able to display them in clear containers that added the Rainbow theme I was going for!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Be sure to have small treat bags on hand so that guests can scoop out their own Skittles mix to take home with them.
SERVE SKITTLES RAINBOW PRETZEL STICKS!
In addition to the Skittles, M&M’s and Starburst candy displayed on the table in their packaging, I also wanted to serve homemade candy covered pretzel sticks topped with a rainbow of Skittles. These are super easy to make.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
– 1 bag of Skittles original
– 1 bag of pretzel rods
– 1 bag of white candy melts
HERE’S HOW TO MAKE THEM:
STEP 1: Melt the candy melts in the microwave (according to the bag instructions)
STEP 2: Lay out the pretzel rods on a baking sheet covered with wax paper
STEP 3: Pour the melted candy into a tall skinny glass and dip the pretzel into the melted candy and lay on the baking sheet. Continue for all the pretzel rods.
STEP 4: After a minute or so, place the Skittles on the tops of the pretzels in a rainbow color pattern. The candy will harden a bit and the Skittles will stay stuck to the pretzels!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: To get a consistent amount of melted candy on each pretzel, dip the pretzel all the way into the glass until it hits the bottom. That way all of them are consistent and look great displayed on the table.
HAVE AN APPLE DIPPING STATION!
For a bit of fun, have your guests dip their own apples into melted candy and top the apples with yummy M&M’s.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Be sure to place a small crock pot on your table to hold the melted candy so that the candy stays melted.
ARE YOU HAVING A SUPER BOWL 50 PARTY THIS YEAR?
Cheers!
Tonya

I love the idea of a candy bar for Superbowl. We always have family over for the big game and it’s a great idea to offer something sweet, not just finger foods and crock pot dishes!
