Hey party peeps! For you guys who’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am a proud Military Mom! My son is in the Navy and last year was deployed on an aircraft carrier for months. One of the things me and my family did religiously was put together care packages to send to him on the ship. We filled the box with letters, photos, sweets, magazines and comforts from home that we, frankly, take for granted. He was SO EXCITED to get these every few weeks as it was a reminder from home that we loved him and appreciated his sacrifice to help keep us and our nation safe. What broke my heart was when he told me that he was sharing his care packages with some of his fellow sailors that NEVER received anything. So, we started sending more care packages for him to give to those other sailors!
SEND A MESSAGE OF THANKS TO THE MILITARY!
Even if you don’t have an active service member in your family, you can SEND A MESSAGE OF THANKS TO THE MILITARY! Please join Dollar General, the USO, and Coca-Cola™ by helping reach their goal of sending 25K messages of support and thanks to our nation’s service members and their families like mine. Your messages will go directly to service members around the world and displayed in USO facilities! This is such an easy way to say ‘thanks’ to those who serve every day to help keep our nation safe. Simply go to this website HERE and send an online message. It takes literally a few minutes and trust me, it means a lot of service members.
My son has utilized USO facilities several times. I saw first-hand how awesome they are. When my son graduated boot camp and was leaving to report to base for the first time, he had a long layover and the USO in the airport had an awesome lounge for service members to make their travel experience a lot more comfortable. As a mom, I totally appreciated that, as all I wanted to do was cry and give him hugs when I watched him walk away from me at the airport. It was comforting for me to know the the USO was there to provide him a place to relax while waiting. How awesome it would have been for him to see our digital messages come up while sitting in the USO Lounge!
