Hey, party peeps! Are you hosting an adult Halloween party this year? Well, today I’m sharing with you my “WICKED” DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS featuring the new Spooky Floral Halloween party collection from Oriental Trading. This post was sponsored by Oriental Trading with either payment and/or product to review. All opinions are my own as I ONLY promote brands that I LOVE and actually USE.
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – THE INSPIRATION!
I am totally in LOVE with Oriental Trading’s new Spooky Floral partyware collection! It was my inspiration for this tablescape. You can find these and many of the Halloween decorations I used for this over on Oriental Trading.
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – HOST IN COSTUME!
As the host of your Day of the Dead dinner party, dress the part in this FABULOUS Day of the Dead costume with a flower veil. Guys, this costume is seriously amazing. The quality is top-notch and is comfortable.
The flower veil is sold separately but so worth it! I also added this Day of the Dead mask to the costume, but you could also use face paint to create a Sugar Skull look directly on your face. If you would prefer to wear a headband instead of a veil, check out my DIY tutorial to make your own Day of the Dead Flower Headband.
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – WELCOME YOUR GUESTS WITH A DAY OF THE DEAD DOOR SIGN & ENTRYWAY!
The Spooky Floral collection also comes with this wooden sign that you could hang on your front door welcoming guests to your Day of the Dead dinner party! AND…decorate your entryway with a Day of the Dead theme by featuring a Day of the Dead bar cart decorated to match your dinner party. Be sure to check out my post on how to decorate a DAY OF THE DEAD ENTRYWAY!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – THE TABLESCAPE!
Set up this Wicked Adult Halloween Tablescape and invite your friends over for a spooky Halloween dinner party!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Using disposable tableware makes your job of cleanup a breeze. Believe it or not, even these fabulous black wine glasses are plastic and disposable! Add a charm to the stem of the glass so your guests can keep track of their glasses. Remove it from the glass before you throw them away and they double as a take-home party favor for your guests!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – USE CHARGER PLATES!
When designing a tablescape, I ALWAYS use charger plates! For one thing, they look amazing and add a decorative element to your place settings. But they also add a layer of protection between your food plate and your table linen.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: If you don’t want to spend the money on charger plates which can cost around $5-$10 each, you can get the same look for less by using a square plate instead of a charger and layer on top a circle plate. You get the look of a charger at a fraction of the price! I mean, you can get these scalloped edge square plates from Oriental Trading for $6.99 for a pack of 8!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – THE CENTERPIECE!
Okay, you guys have seen my DIY Chandelier Candelabra before. I use it for LOTS of Halloween parties because of how fabulous and versatile it is!
For this party, I placed foam skulls and red flowers on each arm of the chandelier instead of candles. Then I taped a Spooky Floral dessert plate to the top! How SPOOKY and FABULOUS is this?
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – ADD POPS OF GOLD!
Add some glam to your Wicked Halloween Party Table by adding pops of metallic gold. SERIOUSLY…HOW FABULOUS IS THIS GOLD SKELETON! He deserves a seat at this spooky glam table!
Your guests will love this and who wouldn’t want to sit next to this guy! He is posable so you can use it in a seated position or standing.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Use gold cutlery to add a bit of glam to your place settings. These disposable gold metallic cutlery are an affordable option compared to metal gold flatware! Not only do they look amazing, but they are disposable! OH YEAH!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – DECORATE WITH SPOOKY FLORAL!
Compliment the Spooky Floral Tableware and use flowers as the main decorations for your table. I added some scary plastic flowers to big red flower blooms and also added black eyeball roses to the table too! I LOVE how all the floral looked on this table design!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: One more thing…you’re gonna love this! I attached flower hair clips to the paper chargers! Simply clip them on to the edge of the charger and your guests can remove them and use them in their hair during the party or take them home as favors!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: To add a spooky touch to your floral, purchase a bouquet of fresh red roses a month before Halloween and instead of throwing them away when they start to die, remove the water from the vases and let them fully dry out. These dead roses look awesome sitting on this table and give it a spooky touch!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – ADD WOW-FACTOR DECORATIONS!
I just fell in love with this pair of ceramic Day of The Dead decorations. I placed them on top of black candelabras to give them some height and nestled them next to flowers in vases to create two more floral displays on the table that flank the main centerpiece. I love how these turned out.
I also used this full-size foam coffin in the party decor. It looks so realistic, right? These are great for photo booths and impromptu photo opps!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – SERVE DAY OF THE DEAD CUPCAKES!
I love to serve Halloween desserts that match the party’s colors and theme. These homemade WICKED MINI FLOWER CUPCAKES looked so awesome, I displayed them on the Day of the Dead party table. Guests can help themselves to a sweet mini treat while seated at the dining table. Be sure to check the recipe post to see how to make these WICKED MINI FLOWER CUPCAKES
Create store-bought Day of the Dead cupcakes by placing them in glittered cupcake wrappers layered with a black laser cut skull cupcake wrapper and topped with a Day of the Dead cupcake topper from the Spooky Floral collection.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Display your Dead of the Dead cupcakes on your dining table to add to the decorations for the table.
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – TATTOO BAR!
These Spooky Floral tattoos are AMAZING! Display these with a Spooky Floral drink flask and your guests will be lining up to get inked!
DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS – FAVOR BOXES!
How adorable are these Spooky Floral favor boxes? Fill them with wrapped candy for each guest to take home. I used them on the tablescape as they added such a great decor element to the table!
I hope this WICKED Day of the Dead Party has given you some DAY OF THE DEAD PARTY IDEAS that you can use to host your own party this year!
