This tutorial is SUPER EASY and AFFORDABLE! The idea stemmed from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ love of pizza! I originally was going to do a Pizza Bar setup of actual pizza, but that was impractical considering the pizza would have to sit out and get cold quickly.
It would, however, be really cool to incorporate a Pizza Bar activity into your party and set up a Make Your Own Pizza Bar complete with all the toppings and individual mini pizza crusts for each guest to make their own.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: I would do this activity first so that the pizza could be cooking while you have the kids move on to another activity. Nothing worse than hungry kids WAITING for food to cook!
For my daughter’s TMNT party, we served pizza and decided to create a Pizza Favor Bar instead! Here we got creative transforming an ordinary item like an empty pizza box into a WOW-FACTOR party favor box!
HOW DID SHE DO THAT?
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE THE PIZZA BOX FAVORS:
• clean, empty medium sized pizza boxes (local pizza shop or U-Line)
• Ninja Turtle personalized printable Pizza Box Favor Labels (available here)
HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT!
Step 1: Refold empty clean pizza boxes inside out!
We were lucky enough to have our local Papa Johns give us these pizza boxes for free! You can also purchase new ones from U-Line here.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: We only needed 4 of these so we were lucky to get them for free. If you need a large number of these, U-Line sells brand new ones that are 12×12. They are $19 for 50!
Step 2: ADHERE A PERSONALIZED PIZZA BOX FAVOR LABEL TO THE FRONT OF THE BOX!
We personalized each pizza box favor box with each guest’s first name AND for that extra special detailed touch, we color coordinated each one to match each guest’s turtle!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Fill each box with flat favors and candy and you’re done! Try a t-shirt, coloring pages, markers, candy and a mini set of that guest’s turtle’s ninja weapons inside (Target has these right now)
NOW FOR THE CENTERPIECE!
TRANSFORM A CD TOWER INTO A TMNT CENTERPIECE!
This was an idea I had while sitting at my computer and looking over at my CD tower on my desk. It reminded me of individual rooms and the vertical orientation of the piece felt like the rooms would be going underground with a sewer pipe on top to reach the city streets. I know…I know…a stretch, but that’s what us creative types do! Take an ordinary object and use it completely differently.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: I know most of you won’t have this exact CD holder but Michaels sells square wood boxes that you can stack on top of each other to achieve a look similar to this one.
I designed printable backgrounds that covered the entire back wall of each box AND color coordinated each background to each turtle so that each box would represent each turtle’s room! DETAILS…DETAILS! Just tape the background on to the back of the box…add the TMNT action figures and your done!
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Make sure you place each turtle in the box that matches the color of their masks.
