Hey, party peeps! Have you decorated your house for the holidays yet? Well, I am lucky enough to have a SuperTarget right down the street from my house, and I have been in and out of there almost daily since the holidays have begun! I’m quite sure there should be a cart with my name on it waiting at the door every day! They have been running such great sales, and when I get busy and can’t get over there, I just order online since they have free shipping, and if I don’t like something when it arrives, they have free returns too. Gotta love that! So the UPS man has been getting quite a workout delivering packages with Target’s red bullseye on them for a few weeks now. I wonder if he’s secretly muttering under his breath when he’s carrying four or five boxes to my door every day. Sorry, UPS guy! Today, I’m going to show you How to Mix and Match Decor for a Rustic Glam and Modern Chic Christmas! You guys have already seen my decor for my Thanksgiving dining table and even my Christmas dining table, and you have seen my color palette this year is neutral with pops of gold. I’m LOVING Target’s holiday home decor collection this year, and I have been totally obsessed with this color palette and theme. Now it’s time to decorate other areas of my house, and today I’m going to show you how I use Target’s Home Equation of mixing three different design elements into a fabulous Rustic Chic stocking table and a Modern Glam holiday bar cart.
Check out Target’s Holiday Home Equations video here to see how I was inspired to come up with my own Home Equations this year:

WOOD + FUR + SHINE = A RUSTIC CHIC HOLIDAY STOCKING TABLE!
WOOD
I wanted to create a Rustic Chic stocking table, so I used my wood sofa table in my house as a base. You could also do this on a fireplace mantel, but mine is currently unavailable, as we have our TV right above it instead. To complement the wood table, I snagged these rustic wood trees in two heights.
+ FUR
One of the first things I bought this year for the holidays were these cream-colored fur stockings! I LOVE THEM! They are super soft and just scream chic! I got them in two sizes since the smaller ones are the perfect size to hold gift cards, which I normally use as stocking stuffers. I also spotted this cream-colored fur wreath to match! OMG…a fur wreath…yes! Perfect for the look I was going for, and since it’s fur, I decided to display it indoors on my wreath stand.
+ SHINE
Y’all know I am all about a little sparkle and shine! Doesn’t everyone need a little sparkle in their home decor? I think so! I am LOVING the marquee letter trend. This JOY gold-and-cream marquee sign illuminates the table at night and adds the shine I was looking for. The combination of the marquee sign and the fur wreath hanging above it made a fabulous centerpiece to the table. It looks so pretty at night. The marquee sign is battery-operated so you don’t have to worry about having to put it near an outlet. For a touch of sparkle, I hung the two larger stockings from these fabulous champagne/gold sparkly reindeer stocking holders. For the final touch, I found these gold glittered letters in the gift-wrap aisle and pinned them on to the stockings as a cute monogram so everyone knew whose stocking was whose.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: This idea is PERFECT if you don’t have a fireplace mantel to hang your stockings! Simply use a sofa table and either use stocking holders to hang the stockings or you can stick 3M Command removable hanging strip clips to the front of your table to hang them. Don’t worry: The 3M strips remove easily without damaging your table—but be sure to follow the directions exactly to remove them.
BLACK + GOLD + WHITE = A MODERN GLAM HOLIDAY BAR CART!
BLACK
I’m totally feeling the bar-cart trend. Aren’t you? I don’t even drink alcohol, so it’s pretty funny that when I saw this in Target, I had to have it. I have been having so much fun coming up with cool, creative ways to use it that don’t involve serving alcohol, like this idea to use it to serve eggnog. How cute is that? The black color of the cart has the modern touch I was looking for, and its round shape works well to fit in an entryway, next to a dessert table, or tucked in a corner. It’s also on wheels, so I can move it around from room to room easily whenever I entertain.
+ WHITE
I have to admit, the entire idea for this design was this white tree I have in my holiday decor. It reminds me of a snow-covered tree, and I thought it would look amazing towering above the bar cart. Its crisp, white-colored branches and pot would contrast with the black bar cart for a modern feel.
+ GOLD
Here comes the gold! Y’all know I’m obsessed with gold. It’s all over my house in my holiday decor, and I wanted to add pops of it here. While shopping again at Target—I know, I know!—I came across this amazing new line called Sugar Paper in the gift-wrap aisle. This line is amazing. I immediately saw these black, white and gold ornaments, but when I looked closer at the package, they were called gift toppers. How creative is that? Just tie them onto a gift with ribbon for a cute look. But I knew right away that I would hang these on my white tree. They don’t come with hooks since they are meant to be for gifts, so I went to look for hooks to hang them and found these gold snowflake decorative ornament hooks. I didn’t even know ornament hooks came all fancy like this! I snatched these up real quick. How amazing do the ornaments, with their fabulous gold hooks, look against the crisp, white tree? SO MODERN…SO GLAM! To finish the look, I added a gold, metal ice bucket I found in the dining section of Target and a pack of gold Christmas ornaments.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: I always, always, always check out the Target Spot dollar section when shopping for a party or theme. This time, I found the perfect glasses for the eggnog bar cart. They are glass with gold metallic confetti printed on them. They came four to a pack for $3. Seriously! I also scored and found this black, white and gold gift bag for $1. When decorating a bar cart with a bottom shelf like this one, I like to put color-coordinated gift bags and/or favor boxes on there for guests instead of placing food or drinks since it’s so close to the floor. The black-and-gold Happy Holidays bag is also from the Sugar Paper collection—so fabulous!

We haven’t changed our Christmas decor in a number of years and for now we are just going to leave it for awhile. A lot of the ornaments are ones the kids made too 🙂
Tonya says
Our Christmas tree is still the kids’ tree. It’s full of brightly colored ornaments and all their handmade ones and ones they’ve picked out over the years. It has sentimental value and will always be there. Totally doesn’t match any of my other holiday decor in the house, but who cares, right?
