Confidence is a mindset game. To boost your confidence, you need to know who you are and be unapologetic about the party planning business you are running. If you are scared, it will show in your language and how you present yourself.
Most people struggle with confidence when it comes to pricing their party planning services. If you have self-doubt, it will show in how you explain what you do or when you present your quote to the client. Have the confidence to know that you are unique, an expert at what you provide, and worth what you charge!
Let’s look at five ways you can show up and boost your confidence in small transformational steps. These steps will help you put a plan together and walk in the confidence you already possess. If you are ready to put in the work, you can boost your confidence and become the business owner you want to be.
Tip 1 | Get Your Systems in Place
You can confidently boost your confidence & your business by having a solid system and workflow in place. When your systems are in place and running smoothly, you don’t have to worry about accepting every client that comes to you. The system is designed to remove the non-ideal clients and encourage the ideal clients to continue the process. If you are clear on your messaging, you can create a system that runs automatically and lets you pick up later in the process.
Here’s an example. When a client reaches out to you, it should be after they have read your website and see that you have a minimum price of $850 to host a party. If the potential client’s full budget is $500, they will not reach out because you have put the right information in place to help them know who you are. Be confident in putting your minimum on your website because it will save you time and unnecessary discovery calls.
Other ways of putting systems in place include delegating to other team members, hiring additional support, or completely eliminating what doesn’t serve you and your business.
Put yourself in the client experience and see what they will see going through your process. Is a link broken? Is a series of emails out of order? See your process the way your client will see it and make sure the system is working properly.
Tip 2 | Protect Your Mindset
You are a reflection of who you are working with and serving. If you offer low ticket services, you will attract low ticket clients. Low ticket clients want discounts, and a “hook up,” and the $5,000 picture perfect Pinterest party for $500. Remember, “No” is a complete sentence and you don’t have to work with these people.
Set yourself up for success and focus on the goals you want to achieve. Keep looking for positive ways to find the clients that WILL pay you $5,000 for their party and won’t bat an eye when you tell them the price. Accept that the key to making the party successful is you. You are the purchase the client is making. You are worth your price and you need to charge accordingly so the client doesn’t try to pick you apart like an a la carte menu selection.
Never project a mediocre mindset. Always present yourself as if you just walked out of your penthouse suite into a private garage where your 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S is waiting for you to go on a leisurely drive because you know you are hitting your revenue goals based on what you decided, not what the last client could afford.
If you are new to party planning and think you could never do that, you need to adjust your mindset. Remember, the only person who knows you are new is you. So walk in your authority, and hold your head up because you deserve to hit your goals like the planner who has been in business for 20 months or 20 years.
Tip 3 | Be Proactive
This tip is all about you. You have to do the work in order to be successful. Work your confidence like a muscle every single day. The more you work it, the stronger it will become. A great way to work your confidence is by using affirmations. Affirmations provide emotional support and encouragement. You can create them for anything.
Affirmations on confidence include “I expect to win” or “I know my value” or “I will charge my worth” or “I am enough.” Say these to yourself in the mirror every morning. Convince the woman in the mirror staring back at you that you are all that and then some! When you speak affirmations out loud, you are convincing yourself and confirming to the universe that you deserve what you want and will not settle for less.
Consider why you started your party planning business. Your why has to be big enough to fuel the business. When you create this fuel, you will develop a winner’s mentality. A winner’s mentality will wake you up each morning and help you not only focus on your goals but give you the confidence to do what it takes to slay those goals!
Tip 4 | Put Yourself Out There
Show up for the audience you want to serve. You need to be clear on the message you want to share and how you want to serve them. Clarity creates confidence, and when you are clear about who you are, what you do, and how you serve, you will be more likely to step into the spotlight you have created for yourself.
Invest in a coach if you need clarity. The coach can help you create the first steps, but it is up to you to be the hunter for your business. If you don’t feed yourself, you won’t feed your business, and you won’t be able to scale and grow. Staying the same and stagnant makes your business a hobby, not a reputable brand.
Tips 5 | Believe You are Worth It
Believe in yourself. Boosting your confidence means nothing if you don’t first believe in yourself. You are the answer your clients seek. Believe it…act on it….You are the expert. You are talented and your clients NEED your brilliance! Otherwise…they’d go down to Chuck E. Cheese…just sayin!
You charge what you charge. Be unapologetic and don’t miss an opportunity because you set yourself up for failure from the beginning by self-doubting your value. As long as you struggle to believe in you, your clients will see that self-doubt and take advantage of it.
The demand is coming. Parties are wanted and needed. All the milestones that haven’t been celebrated due to the pandemic or put off until another time are right in front of you. Work your confidence muscle today so you are prepared to flex it tomorrow.
