Summer is here and it’s time for more outdoor parties. Using a popular theme creates extra buzz around your party planning business for this summer, and what better way to get an outdoor party going than with a popular theme like Fortnite!
Characters are easily recognized, excitement and hype are built around the game itself, and all you need to do is add a few details for personalization. If you are ready to get on this trend and host a Fortnite Water Wars party, make sure you follow these six tips.
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #1 : Recreate the Game Atmosphere with Music
Have music playing as your guests arrive. Set up a speaker so it can be heard as they enter. Guests know they are coming into a themed party, so set the tone from the beginning with a few songs from the game. You can use YouTube or create a playlist from the video game.
In addition to the music, you can also use some of the sound effects during transitions of the party. Create a montage of the sound effects so you have them available for party transitions between each round or when it’s time to finish the round and move into the food.
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #2 : Create a WOW-Factor with Air Blown Décor
You can’t have a Fortnite party without the Fortnite Battle Bus!! This huge airblown decor piece sets the scene for your party. Having it as the opening showpiece of your party will make every guest excited to enter the party. It will create the shock and awe that makes them super excited to see what comes next.
A WOW-factor is meant to literally make your guests say “WOW!” and this party did just that. Not only were the kids blown away, but the parents were blown away as well. Work with your client to create this moment and it will definitely impress your client and their guests.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: The Battle Bus does need to be staked down so make sure you are able to secure it properly. It also needs to be near an electrical outlet, so you might need an extension cord close by.
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #3 : Set the Scene with Inflatable Décor
Just like in the game, you need your obstacles, hiding spaces, and everything else that will recreate your Fortnite battleground. Use objects like inflatable tires, metal cans, and wooden boxes to transform the party space and continue the WOW factor feeling they get from entering the party.
Since they are inflatable, it is easy to move them around and position them in the perfect places so they aren’t too close together. Don’t forget to fill the bottoms of each inflatable with water to keep them upright and prevent the wind from knocking them down. The kids will try to knock them over too, but with enough water, they stand like you need them.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Inflatable decor is my go-to kids party decor! They take up very little space for storage, and they set up in minutes creating the perfect scene.
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #4 : Provide Water Guns for Each Guest
The scene is set. The music is playing in the background, and now it is time to get the party started. But before you do, each guest will need a water gun. Set up a station with Fortnite replica water guns like the ones used in the video game. The kids will instantly recognize them and want to use it as their favorite weapons.
Use the water gun station as part of the experience. If your client chose to only rent the guns, make sure the kids know they have to check their weapons back into the station once the game is over. However, you can talk with your client about purchasing the guns and giving them to the kids as favors at the end of the party.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: I’m sure your party will have some little ones who aren’t able to hold the bigger guns, so make sure you have smaller sizes available for them to use as well. Once you add the water, the gun is HEAVY so plan ahead.
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #5 : Use Kiddie Pools to Reload
Everyone has a water gun, but what happens when they run out of water? Having every kid come back to the water gun station might be a bad idea, right? AND…you already know reloading from your kitchen sink is an option…but not the best. Instead, use a kiddie pool as refueling stations for the game. You can set up a few water-filled pools around the space and let them go to the pool to refuel and charge up.
Make sure it is full ahead of time so that you aren’t getting splashed trying to fill the pool while the water war is going on. NOPE…no thanks!
FORTNITE PARTY IDEAS #6 : Stash Water Balloons in Treasure Chests
Fortnite is full of treasure chests and hidden opportunities to find something that might be helpful in being the last kid standing. Bring this element of the game into your party. Stash some water balloons in treasure chests around the party so the kids can find them.
Tell the kids ahead of time that the “Boogie Bombs” are out there and waiting to be found. You can start a raid for them to find the bombs and start a whole new war. This can be a separate activity from the actual water gun fight.
GIRLFRIEND TIP: Set some rules if you have smaller guests. Divide the battleground so the littlest kids aren’t always getting bombarded and the older kids can run wild in the rest of the space.
Choosing a popular trending theme and creating a party around it is fun and exciting. You get to do something new that you haven’t done before, and your client will get the benefit of seeing how you can take their kid’s favorite video game and turn it into a living reality. Take inspiration from Fortnite or find your popular theme and create a new offer for your clients to consider.
