If you are like me, you love a great party! From the colors to the hidden details to the overall theme, everything excites and inspires me. Whether I am hosting the party myself or putting together the event for a client, I love what I do and seeing it all come together. When I decided to start a party planning business everything changed.
If this is you, I hope you have already taken care of business and become a legit party planner. However, if you haven’t started your business and you are continuing to host parties for friends and family members what are you waiting on? You keep telling yourself you’ll charge for the next event, but you don’t want to charge too much and upset someone. I’m here to tell you, it’s time to stop! You are already doing the work, so let’s pivot and start your party planner business the right way.
Starting a Party Planner Business
Let me give you some advice. Starting a party planning business is not for the faint of heart. Being your own boss requires you to put in the work. However, looking at our current “new normal” we have to think a little differently about the work we are putting in. The world has changed and everything has slowed down. It’s been my experience that when life slows down around you, it is for a reason. We need to pay attention and make the necessary changes now.
It is because of my business that I have the opportunity to share this with you. My business has survived economic downturns and it is still surviving in the current set of circumstances we are in. I’ve had to deal with personal tragedy, loss of loved ones and a few recessions, but through it all, I’ve learned to make lemonade when life keeps handing me lemons. My love of parties and my passion to be my own boss pushed me through and while starting my party planning business, I learned many lessons along the way. Now I’m here to help you learn from what I did right and the things I did wrong so you can start your party planning business with a good foundation.
Becoming a Party Planner
You may now be doing parties for your friends and family for free…or practically free. I know. I did it too. But, when you make the decision to become a legit party planner, you look at your time differently. You start to value your time. You can now spend the time you were giving away for free actually focusing on your business. Over the past year and a half…all the missed baby showers, birthday parties, and anniversaries will all need to be celebrated soon. Some of you will want to go bigger and better than you were originally planning, and that’s ok as long as you do it the right way.
Starting your party planning business is easy when you have a roadmap, but there are some tools you need to have so you are prepared. When parties do come back in full effect, you want to BE READY to serve your clients and not trying to get ready because you didn’t have stuff in order. So how do you become a party party?
